Alright ladies! You all know how to rock lingerie, but some of you don’t know how to properly wash and store these intimate items. Here at Blue Boutique, we can help you learn how to care for those dedicates, so that you’ll have them for years to come. First, it is very important to read the care tags on the lingerie in order to keep from damaging it. Some products will say “dry clean only.” This is very important to follow. The makers of each lingerie line know their products. It can be a bit of a pain, but it’s much better than ruining your new lingerie and basically throwing your money away. Most lingerie is “hand wash only.” There are a few items that say “machine wash,” which you can, but I still always hand wash them. It’s less harmful to the delicate materials. If your washer has a delicate or hand wash setting, and you wish to use it, make sure to put all of your lingerie into a mesh bag so they don’t potentially snag on the agitators. When it comes to detergent, make sure you are using a very gentle, bleach free detergent. Personally, I recommend using a lingerie specific detergent. We carry several different types of these, so here are your options
DONA by JO

This lingerie wash is an aphrodisiac infused formula. These come in a range of different scents to choose from, including, goji berry (my favorite!), pomegranate, acai, blue lotus, camu camu and mangosteen. It is a paraben free, cruelty free, and an all natural product. To start washing your lingerie, add ½ cup of DONA lingerie wash with 1 gallon of lukewarm water. Soak for 5-10 minutes while gently hand washing items. Rinse, but do not scrunch up lingerie. Put items flat on a towel, fold it up, and roll it while putting pressure on it. This will safely soak up the water. If lingerie is lace, NEVER hang dry it. This will cause the lace to stretch out and deform. Always lay it flat to dry.

Eucalan

This is a no rinse, delicate wash. This product is a non-toxic, biodegradable, phosphate free, natural lanolin enriched formula. This line does have different scents as well and they are: lavender, eucalyptus, jasmine and grapefruit. They also make an unscented wash. There are a few different ways this product can be used.
- Hand wash:
Fill basin with tepid water and add 1 tsp of Eucalan with 1 gallon of water. Squeeze lingerie gently and soak for at least 15 minutes. There is no need to rinse! Follow the same drying directions I gave for the DONA care.

- Top loader washing machine:
Fill machine with tepid water and add 1 tsp of Eucalan per gallon of water. Stop the washer and add lingerie. Gently squeeze articles and then let soak for 30 minutes. By- pass the rinse cycle and put it on the spin cycle. Same drying care as stated above.

- Front loader washing machine:
Load lingerie and select the cold water setting. Add Eucalan to the fabric softener drawer. Put on delicate setting and you may use the spin option for this one. Same drying care as stated above.

Now that you know how to properly clean your lingerie, I’m going to give you a few tips on how to store them.

Never smash your bra if it has any kind of padding in the cup. This will cause it to lose its shape. Always lay them in your lingerie drawer nice and neat. I would do this with any bra whether it is padded or not.
For other lingerie, fold it nicely and put them in the drawer. There are lingerie dressers you can buy if you have the means to do so, otherwise you may want to designate a specific drawer for your intimates.
Make sure to not over fill the drawer, as this will wrinkle your garments.
I wouldn’t hang anything up because of the potential to stretch out the garments.
To keep your lingerie smelling fresh, you can put a dryer sheet in the drawer or even a mesh bag with rose petals in it.

Remember, it may take a little extra effort, but following these simple care directions will prolong the life of your lingerie and keep you looking sexy for years to come!.

It seems like every man’s dream is to have two women at once, so chances are, you’ve probably been asked to be a part of a ménage a trios by some guy in your life; maybe even more than once. This can be hurtful, especially when asked by the love of your life. Other times, it can be just plain awkward. This is my story of every steamy, strange, or painful threesome encounter I’ve had in my dating history, and what I’ve learned from them.
A few years ago, I was dating a man I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. I’d never felt this way about someone before, and Sean had said he’d felt the same. I’ve always been a sexually open person and willing to experiment with just about anything, so I’d thought I’d been keeping Sean satisfied. The thought of him wanting a threesome had never even occurred to me. He’d told me at the beginning of our relationship that he’d never want to have a threesome with a woman he loved, saying it’d make him feel as if she were easy or he’d probably be bored of her at that point.

Randomly, some time into our relationship, he asked me if I would have a threesome with my best friend, Carrie. Why her, of all people? When I asked Sean why he’d picked her, he’d simple said because she was convenient. Perhaps the only possible worse person to pick would be an ex love interest of his. This, of course, crushed me. All I could think about was if he even still loved me. Sean tried to reassure me, saying that a threesome was the only thing he’d never tried before and he was curious. So what do you when someone you love deeply asks you to participate in one? Or what if you’re the one asking? Speaking from experience, I don’t think the person asking for a threesome should make the first suggestions of who the third party should be, but it is an important decision to agree on. If you’re the one asking for a ménage a trios, it’s not a good idea to propose bringing in your partner’s “hot friend” or someone you’ve dated before, no matter how much you secretly want to do them. Maybe you’ll get lucky and your partner will pick someone you fantasize about. Instead, you could suggest a mutual friend you’ve made as a couple. However, it’s still risky to pick a friend, even if you aren’t very close. I was very fortunate that my relationships with Ian and Anne weren’t ruined. I trusted them enough to know that they had no romantic interest in each other.

Perhaps the safer way of picking a third partner would be to meet someone new together, rather than picking from people you would see on a daily basis. Ladies, be careful who you allow into your bedroom. As shallow as it sounds, you’ll want to pick someone who won’t hurt your self-esteem, for your own sanity. When I was trying to think of a woman I’d allow to join Sean and me, I found that I wasn’t comfortable with anyone in our lives having sex with the man I wanted to marry. I suggested that we go to the “Bunny Ranch” since the women are professionals and constantly tested for STD’s. We would pick a woman at random, never have to see her again, and she would have no emotional attachment to Sean. I quickly dismissed this idea, realizing that all of these women would be gorgeous and thin. I doubted I’d be able to find one that was on the same “hotness level” as me. Of course, Sean didn’t understand this. He just gave me the excuse that he thinks I’m beautiful and no woman could ever compare to me blah, blah. Last week I was asked by a TV news network to offer my insights on the topics of sexual domination and submission (BDSM), and how they related to violence toward women. The news piece was to be a spin on the effects of the book “Fifty Shades of Grey”. The reporter asked me if I could help her find some BDSM practitioners and others who she could interview. A kind couple agreed to be interviewed in my office and a friend of mine who owns a sex-toy shop in town were featured in story. Once I saw the final piece aired on TV, I could do nothing but laugh at the way that all our words where edited and twisted to fit the angle the reporter wanted. In some cases, our words and phrases were edited to convey the exact opposite of what we had intended.

In additional to learning a lesson about the media, I’ve also discovered the obvious irony of this larger story. As I’ve always taught, the most important aspect of BDSM is clear and honest communication. I am often asked how I can be a faithful Latter-day Saint Christian and not be opposed to BDSM.

First of all, it’s my job to be aware of everything in the sexology world. Because I have chosen to help others, I need to understand the interests, allures, and enticements of what’s out there. I need to be able to work with couples who may be approaching sexuality from a non-traditional angle. My job and calling is to educate and guide while delaying judgment. Such an understanding doesn’t mean that I must personally embrace the practice. (If I personally practiced everything I’ve been exposed to in sexology, I would be one busy, tired, and sore girl!) I’ll readily admit that pain doesn’t bring me pleasure, so my usual limits are blindfolds, fashionable furry wrist restraints, and a little control. But I’ve seen more than you can imagine, and I can share what I know when it’s appropriate.

Secondly, BDSM, as with many types of sexually activities, has many layers. For example, think about the power-exchange in your own sex life. Is it always 50:50? Most definitely not. At any given moment it’s nearly impossible to be in perfect balance. (But you can strive for a 50:50 average over an evening or over a couple of sessions). When engaged in an unbalanced exchange, you are then practicing a mild form of domination and submission. The difference is that you may be ignorant of your imbalance while traditional BDSM practitioners prepare for it, acknowledge it, and improve upon it. They manage the give-and-take of sex in an emotionally healthy way that follow predefined boundaries and rules.

I offer a “BDSM & Kink” class just for this reason—to teach couples that to have a healthy sexual relationship they need to acknowledge and manage the imbalances that are inherent in sex, and that by ignoring them, we perpetuate ignorance in our roles. For those who strive for equality, the BDSM community would call you both “switches”—each willing to take on either role and alternate them as agreed upon, either explicitly or implicitly as determined by the situation. In happy marriages, I believe that couples who are “switches” are the most successful, even if they agree that one will be a firm dom while the other is a willing sub. Learning such concepts and skills in class will help the couple develop trust which is another crucial part of BDSM and of a healthy intimate relationship.
