Water based, or Silicone? Gel, liquid, or cream? These are some of the many options when it comes to lube. Finding the perfect one for you may require some trial and error, but let me try to make your decision a little easier.
Water based lubricant is one in which water is the liquid base. It is easy to clean off, good for almost any use, and an ideal lube for use with toys. There are a plethora of brands to choose from. Some of our favorites include: Pink Water, Sliquid, Liquid Silk, and Slippery Kitty. I think these lubes are much better quality than what you would find at the drug store. These lubes have a slickness to them without getting sticky or tacky. Pink Water is hypoallergenic, and has added Vitamin E and Aloe. Sliquid comes in many forms (liquid, gel and cream), is paraben and glycerine free, and also Vegan. All water based lubricants will eventually absorb into the skin, so more applications may be needed. Water based lubes also come in a variety of flavors and can be fun to incorporate into oral play. I find the least sticky ones include System Jo and Swiss Navy flavored lubes.
Silicone based lubricant is water-resistant, and long lasting. It is ideal for use in water- shower or hot tub anyone? A few drops of this goes a long way and is VERY slick! This type of lube will NEVER get sticky, ever. Can I repeat that? Ever. Our most popular silicone lube is Pjur silicone. It has been a customer and employee favorite for years. Others you might enjoy include: Gun Oil, System Jo, and Pink Silicone. I think silicone lubricants are more cost effective as well, because you are only using a little at a time.
Both water based and silicone based lubricants are condom compatible. They also come in warming or cooling versions, perfect for a different type of stimulation
Whatever your choice or preference, I’m sure we have the right one for you! Please don’t hesitate to ask questions, feel the variations in texture and type, and purchase the right one for your needs. And we all have those needs, right?
