The literary world has been jolted with the surprise of having an erotic novel be a top seller and international sensation. And surely the novel Fifty Shades of Grey has done all the world a favor in bringing to mainstream awareness sex, and lesser known sexual practices. But where can we all go from here? For those of us that don’t necessarily want the author to fill in the specifics of the fantasy for us, Different Loving is a more dispassionate view of the world of sadomasochistic relationships, as well as fetishes and lesser known vehicles for better orgasms.

Including a general overview of the basics of bondage and discipline, the book outlines different psychologist’s perspectives on the benefits of such relationships ala The Secretary, starring Maggie Gyllenhal and James Spader (another good suggestion for you Fifty Shades fans out there!). The book also includes vignettes from those who enjoy certain activities outlined, explaining what it does for them, how it feels, and why they like it. Supplemented with a history on most of the classic bondage and fetishistic practices. I was personally intrigued with exactly how far back a lot of these “untraditional” practices go, many of which are so far back that they are better described as traditional rather than strange.

I’m not a BDSM participant myself, I’m not familiar with hardly any anti nomian sexual practices. But I found the book easy to read and understand. It answered a lot of curiosity and questions I had regarding a lot of this stuff when my former reaction  was, “Why would you ever want to do that?”. For anyone who just wants to know more, or thinks that they might like to dabble in just a few things related to dominance, submission, or even simply having more transcendent sex, the volume has a wealth of ideas.

That is where the authors really got me. Before, the sadomasochistic dichotomy was all silly props, and Satanist costumes. I was surprised to discover a different side, an alchemical process that very well could be the path to becoming a more actualized human being, and the key that may unite two lovers in a way that any traditional roles defined by our aged Victorian morals could. And trust me, this is the last place I ever thought I would find that. Fans of Tantra or those who are looking for a deeper, truer Tantric practice will find some bells rung here. There’s a little bit of something for everyone – even those who just want to shake things up and make them interesting. In the end, its all about rounding out your experiences, embracing your fears and enjoying your limits. And with all the information in this book, it makes it incredibly easy to be freed.

0904 astrology

Editors Note: This is PURLEY for fun and does not constitute any science based evidence.

I have always had an interest in astrology. Although it is purely bad science, I think it is strange when I notice certain patterns of characteristics shared between people born within certain times. What can it mean that all of my very best female friends have had a birthday within the first two weeks of October? Or that if I meet someone born within the first two weeks of November, that I will inevitably fall madly in love with them? Is it coincidence, self-fulfilling prophesy, or could it be possible that something is going on with the way seasons effect people’s psychology?

I have not fucked my way all around the complete zodiac circle quite yet, but I have read several books on the topic of sexual astrology, and this information has prepared me to expect certain behaviors from certain signs. With information I have gathered from articles, anecdotal evidence, and personal experience, perhaps you too can gain some insight on how to please your partner. Even if these tips aren’t 100% accurate, the pure fact that you’re making an effort to give extra special attention will thrill the both of you.

Aries- Aries people are extremely dominant and passionate. They enjoy feeling worshipped by their partners, and they have the ability to last for extremely long amounts of time. Sex is often viewed as a sort of sport, but when they fall in love, they are faithful romantic partners.

Taurus – Those born between April 21st and May 21st are the most sensual creatures of the Zodiac. For them, sex is not about the orgasm. The goal is intimacy and connection via touch. They are extremely physical expressive, and usually require some sort of emotional connection before they can engage in sensual play.

Tauruses like long, drawn-out, slow foreplay, and can only climax if they are 100% certain that their partner is fully satisfied.

Gemini – Geminis are adaptable, adventurous, and intuitive, so they are great at anticipating their lovers’ needs. They need spontaneity in their sex lives, and they enjoy equal amounts of kinkiness and sweetness in bed. Sex is a cerebral experience for the Gemini, so you must engage them in lots of intellectually stimulation conversation before you can expect them to go to bed willingly. Geminis view sex as an exciting challenge, so they can seem resistant to displaying or discussing emotions. If you have the energy and sharp wits necessary to handle a Gemini, your life will never be boring.

Cancer – Cancers also the type who need to feel secure and loved before they get in bed with someone. Although they are not necessarily kinky or wild, this is not to say that Cancers are boring. They are extremely sexual, and adore making their partner feel deeply valued and fulfilled, physically and emotionally. They respond well to a dominant partner who will make them feel protected.

Leo – Leos don’t just enjoy feeling worshipped by their partners- they require it. However, the person who truly adores a Leo will be extremely rewarded. They have an insatiable appetite and prefer to dominate. Get things going by treating them like royalty, and then in due time they will treat you the same.

Virgo – Highly sensual and physical, Virgos are the same hardworking perfectionists in the bedroom as they are every where else. They are persistent and will do everything they can to please their partners. They can also be quite kinky! They are excited by the idea of restraints and light bondage. Make sure you schedule your romantic rendezvous ahead of time, because you will be busy getting’ busy all night with a Virgo.

Libra- Aesthetics are highly important to Libras, so look forward to an ambient, all-out experience if you get in bed with a Libra. They are all about the candle light, bubble bath, and champagne. As with everything they do, Libras are enthusiastic and put their all into every encounter. Expect to have each of your senses fulfilled in every way.

Scorpio- Scorpios, in my opinion, are the absolute most sexual, sensual, passionate people of the Zodiac. With them, sex needs no frills, because they so delight in every single aspect of the human body. Nothing seems weird or gross to them, and inhibitions are a waste of time. Scorpios will respond strongly to the tiniest things you do in bed that other people would never notice. Do yourself a favor, and get down with a Scorpio.

Sagittarius- The perfect combination of spontaneity and intensity. Sagittariuses are adventurous and will say yes to almost anything, so if you’ve ever dreamed of having sex on the beach or in the woods, find one of these. Humor is also very important to Sagittarius, so keep it light, and don’t be afraid to have some fun with your sexuality.

Capricorn – Decisive and deliberate, Capricorns have very high expectations of their sexual partners. They are straightforward and enjoy to-the-point lovemaking. The idea of sex and creating an ardent atmosphere is just as important to Capricorns as the act itself. To really impress a Capricorn, play submissive until the last minute, and surprise them by climbing on top. It’ll blow their mind.

Aquarius – Aquarian people are to the point and won’t put up with games. They know what they want, and are very sure of themselves, in the bedroom and out. Sex is more intellectual than physical for them, so dirty talk and sharing your fantasies is a sure way to get them turned on. They are extremely passionate and even one night stands have an air of romance.

Pisces – Pisces adore kissing and cuddling, and foreplay is their forte. Pisces make great lovers because they are undiscerning and nonjudgmental- they will indulge your most sordid, secret fantasies. Due to their creative nature, they are all about role play. Lingerie, costumes, strip tease, and candle light are sure to ignite the fish’s fire.

Kimono Condoms: The closest you can get to wearing nothing at all.

Kimono Condoms: The closest you can get to wearing nothing at all.

Jul 23, 2012

Condoms. Most of us have a love/hate relationship with those tiny little tubes of plastic. Love ‘em for the protection they provide against STD’s and pregnancy, but hate the sensation they take away during the sexy times. Well, since most of us can’t really afford to quit using them, I wanted to tell you about a brand of condom that is probably the closest thing you’ll get to going bareback without actually risking it. What are these incredible condoms, you ask? Kimono.

Kimono condoms call themselves America’s Original Thin Condom, and they should, considering the fact that they are up to 48% thinner than standard condoms. They are even thinner than most of the “thin” and “ultra thin” condoms on the market.  At just .047 millimeters, these little guys will provide you all the protection you need without any added bulk. They exceed all U.S. and International strength and reliability standards, so you don’t have to worry. Just because they’re thin doesn’t mean they are any more likely to break…it just means you’re more likely to enjoy yourself!

No matter what type of condom you’re looking for; ultra thin, thin, lubricated, large or textured, Kimono makes one to suit your needs. They also have a nice snug fit, so you don’t have to worry about “slippage,” which is great because I’m sure we all know someone who’s slippage turned into “guess who’s expecting!” They are made of latex, but luckily they don’t have that terrible smell that a lot of condoms have. And don’t worry vegans, Kimono condoms contain no animal or milk proteins so you can enjoy some safe sex too!

So, if you are still on the search for a great, thin condom for a more natural experience, come on into the West Valley Blue Boutique and pick up a box of Kimonos.  I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

A Guide to Sexual Enhance Supplements

A Guide to Sexual Enhance Supplements

Jul 19, 2012

Chili PepperOne of the things Downtown Blue Boutique sells the most of is sexual enhancement supplements, aka boner pills. Every day, many men and women come to our store to pick up old favorites or try new ones. We are constantly asked which pills are the best. While we have a few favorites, every person’s body chemistry is unique and different pills will work or not work for different people.

Our supplements often contain common ingredients, but effects will vary depending on the combination of other active ingredients, as well as amount. Some of the most desirable ingredients in a supplement include maca root, saw palmetto, yohimbe, tongkat ali, avena sativa, gingko biloba, and niacin. All of these can be used to relieve symptoms of erectile dysfunction, give you extra stamina, or simply help you keep it hard and strong, all night long.

Maca root increases libido in both men and women, stimulates the production of sex hormones, and can increase fertility. Saw palmetto nourishes the prostate gland and stimulates production of testosterone, while yohimbe increases blood flow and nerve impulses to the penis or vagina. Tongkat ali raises sperm count, in turn increasing arousal and desire in males. Avena sativa, commonly known as oatstraw, enhances physical performance in men and excitability in females. Gingko biloba improves blood flow to the sexual organs, and is the perfect antidote for the sexual side effects of many antidepressants. Niacin also brings blood to the surface of the skin, resulting in increased sensitivity and responsiveness to touch. Other great ingredients to look for are l-arginine, horny goat weed, ginseng, and damiana. If a pill contains any combination of any of these, the more reliable its effects may be.

Our all time favorite pill for men is the Nite Rider. This pill will stay in your system for three days, will make you get it up in mere seconds, and will allow you to engage in intercourse for hours. The female version, Nite Rider Girl Power will increase her sensitivity to touch as well as making her much more aggressive in the sack. Nite Riders are safe to take with alcohol, so pop one on a Thursday night, and prepare to party hard all weekend long.

But for those who are seeking a supplement that they can take daily to improve their sexual health on a regular basis, try the Passion Plus Advanced. If taken consecutively for many days, you will soon notice a big difference in your libido, arousal time, and the durability of your erections. Blue Boutique carries 2 count, 5 count, 10 count and 20 count bottles so you can give it a try before deciding to commit to taking it daily. For women, the female supplement Elexia comes in either 2 count or 60 count packs. Elexia increases desire and sensitivity, and many women have reported experiencing orgasms for the first time thanks to Elexia.

One of the more bizarre supplements we carry is called Black Ant. The packaging is entirely in Chinese, except for some illegible directions. Somehow, this product is made “through extracting ant rich nutriment and made from unique medicinal effect extracts.” So, this product is made of ants? Regardless, this stuff works! A male customer told me that taking Black Ant was like turning into a god. He said that he went absolutely wild, experiencing incredibly excessive sexual energy, and lasting for hours longer than he normally would.

The pill iGrow doesn’t quite compare with the others as far as longevity and experience, but is perfect for men without any real erectile dysfunction. iGrow will help you get it up much faster than normal, and is a perfect solution for whiskey dick. Many customers have also reported that it brings heightened sensitivity and more intense orgasms.

Although all of the supplements sold at Blue Boutique are completely natural, please consult your physician before taking sexual supplements if you are taking any other medications or have any cardiovascular problems. But for most, side effects are minimal, if any, and taking sexual supplements can completely revive and revitalize your sex life! Come see us at Downtown Blue Boutique and see which one works best for you!

Toy Review: Fun Factory Share

Toy Review: Fun Factory Share

Jul 9, 2012

Fun Factory ShareI have spent years looking for a good strap-on, but there are so many options out there! I had a hard time finding a brand I liked and felt I could trust to be a good quality long lasting toy. Most strap-ons are big and bulky made out of material that is stiff and uncomfortable to wear. Also most are relatively straight and will not fit the natural contour of your body, not to mention for vaginal use most looked too long for starting out. Everything I found was too intimidating to find intriguing. Then about a month ago I found a brand that I thought I would try out.

The brand name is Fun Factory, which alone made me wonder how “fun” these toys would be. I started looking more it to these fun brand toys and they were amazing!!! The material was so different from any other toy I have ever looked at. It was so soft and malleable, yet it is sturdy enough to put any amount of pressure where you want to have it. I had mostly looked at vibrators, and let me tell you I am sold on getting all my toys from Fun Factory. Although they didn’t have any strap-ons, but they did have a few couples toys that were similar to a strap on. The one I found to be the most welcoming was called Share.

Share has 3 sizes the Share, Share XL, and Share XS. All are double dildos, perfect for lesbians or for couples looking for a good anal toy that can be used to stimulate both parties. Depending on your comfort level, what you are using Share for, and your anatomy will help you best choose what size you will want to purchase.

All are made of 100% medical grade silicone; this is rare to find in the United States. Most silicone toys are made or assembled in China, they have very low standards for their products and when they make something that is “100%” silicone it turns out they are about 12% silicone! Fun Factory is not only based out of Europe, but all of their toys are assembled in Europe so you know that you don’t have to worry about the standards getting mixed up. The material is so high quality you can actually used a silicone based lubricant with it! This is unheard of! Being such a high quality silicone also makes them hypoallergenic and unusually easy to clean, you can boil them if you want to, and it won’t mess with the feel of the material! It is very soft and flexible, yet still very firm. This allows them to adapt seamlessly to the shape of the body while providing satisfying stimulation to both partners.

The Shape is unlike anything I have ever seen before. One end is shaped to sit in the vaginal cavity with a curve that rests against the G-spot as well as right above the pelvic bone, so that while in use it provides optimal internal stimulation, while the bottom is slender so the vaginal opening can close around it, making it easier to keep in while using. The joint between the two insertable ends is flat and flexible so it can rest flush against the women’s skin. The joint rises up and forms a dull point that rests on the clitoris providing external stimulation for both partners, as it would rub against the partner it is being used on. Depending on what size you use will depend on what the dildo part looks like, but they all have a curve that will provide G-spot stimulation for the other partner whether they are male or female.

With the original Share the dildo end is slender and shaped more like the male anatomy and is roughly 6.3 inches long and 1.38 inches in diameter. The part worn in the vagina is 3.4 inches long and 1.5 inches in diameter. The shape allows for not only vaginal stimulation but also anal, you don’t have to use a harness with Share but the base opens up the option. The natural shape makes for a good hold and a comfortable handling. If you are looking for something smooth and natural I recommend trying this one out.

The Share XL dildo is longer and has elevated ridges that make it slightly larger; it is 7.1 inches long and 1.37 inches in diameter. The part worn in the vagina is 3.4 inches long and 1.49 inches in diameter. The additional curves create more stimulation for the individual it is being used on as well as for the individual that is wearing it. The ridges also create a more defined structure that will bend less, helping create the added stimulation. The extra ridge on the vaginally worn edge also helps to keep it in more easily allowing for an added sense of control.

The Share XS is the smallest of the share family the dildo end is only 5.5 inches in length and 0.89 inches in diameter. The vaginally worn end is still about the same size at the other two at 3.9 inches in length and 1.37 inches in diameter. Share XS is perfect for beginners you can get used to controlling the toy and having to hold something inside of you. The end that is used as the dildo is smaller and more slender then the other shares, letting the individual get used to having the foreign object inside of them. With the smaller end it is ideal for anal use. It has the perfect curve to massage the male G-spot. Then once use to the size you can begin to move up in size.

Share is a great way to extend pleasure and create a greater sexual bond, not only for lesbian couples, but any couple that is willing to try it out! You can cool it in ice water or warm it in boiling water; it is bath and shower friendly. The vaginal end is easy to insert and easy to keep in once you get comfortable with the movement and the feel of the having it inside of you. As intimidating as the Share can appear it is a great toy to add to your collection, or the perfect way to start a collection! (I also recommend looking at the Fun Factory smart balls if you are worried about how strong your Kigali muscles are, they get a real workout when using Share.)

– Brynne
