Testimonial on Sliquid Stimulating O Gel

Testimonial on Sliquid Stimulating O Gel

Jun 28, 2012

So, while in the adult room I’ve noticed we sell a lot of the Liquid V Stimulating Gel. Being curious, I wanted to try it, for my own personal opinion n it, so next time I’m asked questions about it, I can give my own testimonial. Unfortunately, we were out of the sample sizes of the Liquid V. I asked the manager on shift what she would suggest, and she gave me a few options…. 1. Liquid V 2. Sliquid Stimulation O Gel, and 3. Whoopie Cream. I had heard a lot of positive feed back about the Sliquid Lubricants by staff (that the flavored ones are super yummy!), so I decided to give the Sliquid O Gel a chance…

I’m glad I did!!

My girlfriend and I loved it! I had tried another stimulating gel, years ago – I can’t even remember the name, but it was nothing compared to the Sliquid O Gel! I can’t remember the last time it being as great :)

The great reactions I got from Sliquid O Gel include:

*Fast Acting: I feel like it kicked in super quickly! I only used a small amount, finger tip sized. The first thing I noticed was a nice menthol feeling. Not too overpowering, not uncomfortable , perfect! Shortly after the menthol sensation subsided, is when i could definitely feel a spike in my sensitivity. My girlfriend has never used a stimulating gel and she was very pleased with the results. She didn’t feel like any of the menthol sensations were over powering and she said the stimulation was just right! She never felt overly sensitive.

*Long Lasting: During a two hour play session neither of us had to apply more gel. The initial application lasted the whole time. :)

*It was a great addition with toys!

Also, I really liked the ingredients. Upon reading them over, I found Sliquid contains no l’arginine, it is 100% organic and vegan!! It makes you feel great, and doesn’t harm your body. No glycerine and paraben free as well. I was never confused about any of the ingredients, and I feel like the hibiscus, alfalfa, green tea, and sunflower seed set it apart from the rest!

Over all, I LOVED this product!! I give it a 10 out of 10! And I will definitely purchase it again!!

Just Get Used To It: What It’s Like to Work at a Sex Shop

Jun 26, 2012

Enseigne de sex shopEver wondered what it’s like to work in a sex shop? Well, you must not be the only one because I’m constantly being asked a slew of questions about what it’s like to work in and manage the West Valley Blue Boutique. Here are a few of the most common ones I get.

Is it strange to look at this stuff all day?

Does “regular” sex bore you now?

Are there a lot of creepy people that come in here?

Does it make you desensitized to work here?

This has got to be the best job ever, right?

My answer is generally the same to all these questions…I’m just used to it.

Yes, my job is pretty damn fun, but mostly because I get to work in an easy-going environment with some really awesome people. It has good days and bad days though – just like your job. And while the adult products can be quite daunting and intriguing at first, it doesn’t take long for the novelty to taper off. This doesn’t mean the products we have aren’t exciting to me anymore, it just means I don’t stand there all day looking around in awe of the place. You quickly start to figure out what is good and what is just so-so. Though if there is something new and exciting that comes in you can bet we are all over it – which is why you should definitely ask our advice!

As for being desensitized, yes, I suppose that happens to some degree. Like I said, you just get used to hearing and seeing things that may not be a part of other people’s daily routine. Cockring. Dildo. Anal beads. These are all things I talk about and look at daily without a second thought. It may not be normal to anyone else, but it is normal to me. Does this mean that I only want crazy things in the sack and “normal sex” isn’t appealing anymore? Not at all. What does that even mean? I’m more aware of all the interesting options available, but my I figure out my personal preferences just like any of you.

What about the really strange stuff and the creepy people? Well, I can’t lie, we definitely do get some unusual characters in here (remember my flasher?), but honestly not much more than you would get at any other retail store. And as for the odd requests and questions, as long as it’s legitimate it rarely surprises us and we are happy to talk about it. When people tell me they have a strange question I always reply with “unlikely,” because after working here for 10 years, I have truly heard it all.

“Oh you need a gallon and a half of lube for your orgy this weekend? Right this way.” or “You’re looking for electrically charged nipple clamps? No problem, let me show you the options.”

These are phrases I have undoubtedly said while working, without even the slightest hesitation.

While it may all seem like the same ol’ stuff to me, I do get a reminder of my skewed sense of reality every time I go to a bar or restaurant with co-workers. A little “work conversation” and suddenly heads are turning and eyebrows are being raised all around us. I guess pussy and ass isn’t a phrase usually uttered at the dinner table, but what can we do, we’re just used to it!

Fifty Shades of Gray UtahEnjoy Pornography in Public: Erotic Literature!

If you haven’t heard about the latest literary sensation, Fifty Shades of Gray, you might be living under a rock. This series of erotic fiction is important for several reasons. It’s been a very long time since a work of erotica was ranked so highly on bestselling book lists. And since its main audience is middle-aged women, they are now flocking into our stores to experiment with elements of their sexuality they never before would have allowed themselves to explore.

Erotic literature is so extremely influential because it does something for women that ordinary pornography doesn’t: it feeds and stimulates the imagination, which, for women, is one of the most important parts of sex. And now, after reading the series, many women are becoming awakened to desires they may have repressed because they seemed wrong or strange.

Fifty Shades is nothing new, however. Erotic fiction has been an important part of literature for several centuries. Many erotic novels written in the past were dismissed as trash, and the writers of which were even jailed. But today many of this “filth” is considered extremely important high literature. If you loved Fifty Shades of Gray and are interested in reading more, this writer has many recommendations for you.

The latter portion of the18th century brought many famed works of erotic fiction. One of the earliest, more conservative (but wildly descriptive) these is Fanny Hill, or Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, which follows a young woman left destitute who is led into the prostitution industry. The chapters chronicle her experience with her many lovers and clients, yet in the end she learns her lesson and reverts back to proper morality.

Less apologetic are books by the famed libertine the Marquis de Sade, the very man for whom “sadism” is named. Philosophy in the Bedroom is a detailed, descriptive account of a brother and sister who joyously corrupt a very young girl, including vivid descriptions of incest, orgies, and many varying taboo sexual acts including many different parts of the body. My personal favorite by Sade is Justine, or the Misfortunes of Virtue. The heroine, a virtuous orphaned young girl, has only her morals as a shield against continuous attempts at corruption. Sade’s work is thoroughly pornographic, but the lewdness is accompanied by incredibly nuanced and witty arguments concerning politics and religion.

If you’re more into the “M” of S/M, a must-read literary classic is Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (yes, as in masochism). This work still inspires today’s concept of “kink”: whips, boots, leather, slavery, contracts, cruelty and punishment abound in this beautifully written love story.

My all-time favorite work of erotic fiction is Story of the Eye, by the French surrealist George Bataille. By far the most outrageous, strangest, grotesque work of erotica I’ve ever read, you will never be able to look at eyes or eggs in the same way. The story follows a young male narrator and his lover who find pleasure in billowing sheets, constipation, urinating on soft-boiled eggs, religious relics, and bullfights. Bataille revels in defilement and blasphemy, and although this novel might not turn you on in the traditional sense, it will fascinate, seduce, and make you reconsider altogether what you normally conceptualize as the erotic.

If these stories sound a little more brutal or shocking than your liking, return to the 20th century and indulge in the ethereal feminine writing of Anais Nin. Her most famous collection of erotic tales, Delta of Venus, is sensual yet subtle, voluptuous in the most gentle, breathtaking manner. The stories are short, and her imagination will transport you from artists’ manors in Europe to the bordellos of Latin America. Her desire knows no bounds, and breaks down all classical binaries surrounding sexuality.

The best part about erotic fiction, of course, is reenacting the scenes in your own bedroom. Downtown Blue Boutique has everything you need to play out either the kinkiest bondage scenario, or the most romantic, ardent, lovemaking session. Or perhaps you just need something to use yourself while you read in bed. Come see us at our brand new location and tell us what books you love!
